Promotional Items Purchase

Pursuant to Arkansas Code § 25-1-1204, state agencies, including higher education, are prohibited from using public funds to purchase promotional items made in China.

Promotional purchases are items purchased for delivery to the general public to promote or advertise the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture or its programs, departments, services, or events.

This restriction applies to items such as branded merchandise, apparel, marketing materials, and similar products used for outreach or promotional purposes.

What this means for you:

• Departments must ensure that any promotional items purchased with UADA funds are not manufactured in China.
• Vendors should be asked to confirm the country of origin before an order is placed.
• Existing purchasing procedures remain in effect, but additional due diligence regarding country of origin is now required.
