Develop Proposal

Sponsored Programs staff assists UACES faculty in all areas of proposal development. Routine assistance includes editing narratives, completing forms, and developing realistic budgets. The overall goal of the pre-award staff is to ensure the applicant submits a proposal with the highest possibility of being funded. For assistance with proposal development, budgeting, or submission, please contact Yolanda Harden or GibAnn Berryhill in the Office of Sponsored Programs.

Proposal Development

Searching, identifying, applying for, and receiving sponsored funding is part art, part communications, part accounting, and part science. The Grant Seeker's Toolkit provides the PI resources including grant writing tips, explanations of forms, answers to frequently asked questions, and frequently used information.

  • Budget  Development: The budget is among the most important parts of a proposal. Sponsored Programs staff assists in developing budgets and have many resources at their disposal to ensure a proposal budget is complete, realistic, accurate, and within the funder’s guidelines. Resources for use in developing a proposal budget can be found in the Grant Seeker's Toolkit page on the OSP website.
  • Budget Workbook: This Excel workbook helps take the guesswork out of budgeting. The user can enter a variety of information and allow the workbook to calculate the total budget including the most complicated of categories: personnel costs, sub-awards, and indirect costs. This form is not intended for submittal to sponsors.

Budget Workbook:  A workbook to ease budgeting for multi-year projects.

Budget Worksheet: A simplified version of the budget workbook for single year projects (includes a column for AES involvement in a project; especially useful for projects requiring an MOA with AES or another entity).

Proposal Submission

UACES has established a process for submitting grant proposals. Following these guidelines ensures proposals are routed, approved, and submitted in a timely manner. The following documents outline the UACES proposal submission process and provide an overview of Faculty Incentive Programs:
