Division Event Marketing Road Map: Getting Started

Marketing your event is just as important as planning your event.

This Division Event Marketing Road Map (PDF) was created with the purpose to help you better understand how, when, and where to plan and market different types of Division events. It also includes specific social media guidance to help create a better understanding of the different social media platforms and how best to engage potential attendees.

Things to Consider Before Your Event

  • If the event is virtual, are you going to record and post later?
  • Is the audience aware that they may be on the recording?
  • Do you need to get statistics during the event? How are you going to do that?
  • Is your event happening during a big state-wide/community/internal event?  ex: Razorback game, school sports, community festivals, fairs, holidays, hunting seasons, in-service training, fair, etc.
  • Check local commerce calendars and community pages for possible conflicts.
  • Is there a capacity limit? You may lessen your marketing timeline if the event has a small capacity.
  • Will you attract your target audience during that time of year/day?  ex: An older audience may want to be home before dark; parents may be busy during the school year.
  • Do you plan to have digital registration for this event? Will there be fees? Do you plan to accept all forms of payment (credit cards, checks, money orders)?
  • Do you plan to accept payment for any applicable fees on site?
  • What information do you plan to collect on attendees before the event?
  • Do you have a deadline that all registration count needs to available in order to plan accordingly?
  • Do you want to follow up with attendees after the event occurs for feedback or to offer additional resources?
  • Are the funds collected for registration going to be processed through a UADA account? Or are they for an external organization?
  • If there are registration fees, do you plan to charge UADA employees for registration/attendance?
