Marketing and Planning for Mid-Size events

Mid-size events could be larger community events, regional events, or events that cover several counties. Marketing should begin 60 days out. See suggested timeline.

  • Introduce event 60 days out or as soon as planned. When introducing give a general description of the date, time, and location. If you don’t have all of your information ironed out, start with a “save the date” event then update it later.
  • Once you have all the information, immediately post the event on the calendar. Make sure to add a point of contact for the event.
  • If the event is held in person, promote it through your normal channels whether that is newspaper, flyers, or social media.
  • Use social media, e-newsletters, group texting, and the website to promote virtual events. Include state office social media and news staff to help promote your event (Melissa Johnson, Amy Cole, Mary Hightower, Tracy Courage, Nick Kordsmeier).
