Marketing and Planning for Small Events

Small events could include 5-15 attendees. These can include club events or county-specific events. Start marketing 30 days out or as soon as the information is available to you.

  • Start marketing 30 days out or as soon as possible.
  • When introducing the event online, give a general description of the date, time, and location. Include the price and promote free events by including the words “free” or “no cost”.
  • Once your event is scheduled, add it to the Division event calendar.
  • Share event with UADA Division social media team if you’d like to feature it to a wider audience. Contact Melissa Johnson and Amy Cole,
  • If the event is held in person, promote it through the newspaper, flyers, or social media.
  • If the event is virtual make sure to target your audience (is it still focused on local attendees or can other counties/states join?)
  • With small events, it's important to post frequently on social media if you only have a limited amount of time to market the event beforehand.
  • Starting from the day you post about your small event, post a minimum 1-2x per day to reach a maximum audience.
    • Change up the post style and visual. Some graphics work better than others. Try some A/B testing to also test time of day and post style. Consider using video of you talking about the event as a post.
  • Make sure to create a Facebook event and include other hosts if applicable (co-sponsored with ARFB, etc.)
  • If there is a registration limit or deadline before the event, make sure you are posting every day starting 3 days out from the deadline.
  • During the week of the event post every day as a reminder.
  • If you use Constant Contact, send a minimum of two event notifications prior to the event and one notification the day of the event.
    • Consider having a county or program area events-specific e-news subscriber list to send event notifications
